Volunteering
At 17, I understood that my existence could transcend the boundaries of the self and find meaning in others. It was at that moment that I became involved in my first volunteer project—a computer course for elementary school children at a municipal school in my neighborhood. This experience awakened in me the realization that donating time and energy is not a waste, but a reconnection with what is most essential: the joy of being useful, of belonging, of contributing to the community. Since then, volunteering has become a continuous path of personal fulfillment and expansion of consciousness, where every gesture, no matter how small, becomes a transformative power.
Today, living in Portugal, I continue this journey through my work with LIGA (Portuguese League Against Cancer), offering emotional and human support to cancer patients. I'm not always present every week, but each meeting is a immersion in the most authentic aspects of the human experience: listening, giving, and compassion. Volunteering has become, for me, a practical expression of faith in humanity and a concrete way to cultivate hope. In this space of giving, I discover the beauty of a purposeful life—where being is, above all, being with others.
